Devin’s DAZN deal and the 2026 fights that fell through

The boxing side of 2026 has been all about deals. In July the WBO ordered Devin to face Keyshawn Davis, with a 75-25 purse split in Devin’s favor.

Top Rank won the purse bid at $8.55 million, worth roughly $6.4 million to Devin. A day later Davis walked away, rejecting his 25%.

Then came October 23. Devin signed his exclusive DAZN deal through his own company, Devin Haney Promotions. “This agreement removes any doubt or uncertainty about my ability to make major fights,” he said.

Don’t confuse those purses with Bill’s money. A manager usually takes a cut, but the family has never said how big his is, so there’s no honest way to turn them into a number for him.

Bill is still Devin’s manager. Over in Boston, the other Bill Haney’s bio still lists him as CEO of Skyhawk and Dragonfly. Neither man has released anything new on his finances.

Bill Haney net worth in boxing, is there a real number?

Not one we’d stand behind. Haney has never shared what he’s worth, and no court or business filing we found lists it. Bio sites print confident totals. Not one of them shows its working.

How he earns is clearer. He manages and trains a world champion, and in boxing that usually means a share of the fighter’s purse. What that share is between father and son has never been made public, and it’s the one number that would actually matter.

How did Bill Haney make his money?

Music came first. After prison he started a hip-hop label and worked on the Romeo Must Die soundtrack with Aaliyah and DMX. In Las Vegas he opened The Hit Factory, a boxing gym with a recording studio in the back.

It wasn’t always comfortable. To take a young Devin on the road, he sold property he’d inherited from his grandmother, along with his cars and watches. He told Boxing News those were “definitely the tough times.”

From Lompoc to the champion’s corner

He doesn’t hide his past, which we respect. As a teenager in Oakland he sold drugs and ended up in juvenile hall. A school counselor then helped get him into Western Kentucky University to study journalism.

That didn’t last. A drug conspiracy case brought a federal sentence, which he served at Lompoc. He says older inmates told him not to come back. When Devin’s mother told him she was pregnant, he knew he “couldn’t go back to prison”.

Devin kept getting into fights at school in Las Vegas, so Bill took him to a gym, half hoping he’d get beaten up and quit. Trainer Derrick Harmon called the boy “a natural” instead.

Bill Haney’s wife and sons

In his Boxing News interview, Haney names his wife as Samantha. When he first moved to Las Vegas, she and the boys stayed behind until they could join him. Sporting News adds that Devin’s parents were separated while he was growing up.

The other Bill Haney graduated from Harvard in 1984 and didn’t come to film until 35. Harvard Magazine reported he helped his friend Errol Morris finish the 1997 documentary Fast, Cheap and Out of Control.

He directed The Price of Sugar, about Haitian workers on Dominican sugar plantations. It was short-listed for an Academy Award and took the Audience Award at South by Southwest. The Last Mountain, his 2011 film on mountaintop coal mining in Appalachia, went to Sundance and won the IDA’s Pare Lorentz Award.

In 2000 he co-founded Uncommon Productions with Tim Disney. Seven years later he started Blu Homes, a prefab green-home builder, with Maura McCarthy. Forbes pointed out the timing was rough, since they launched just as housing collapsed.

His company bio says his first invention cut air pollution from power plants, and that he’s started or helped start more than a dozen companies. He’s listed as CEO of two Boston biotechs, Skyhawk Therapeutics and Dragonfly Therapeutics.

That résumé hints at serious money. A hint isn’t a figure, though. He’s never disclosed his net worth, and we found no reliable estimate. The same bio says he lives in Boston with his wife, Maura.
